Despite NFL telling players and celebrities attending the game not to kneel, Eminem, the biggest rapper in the world kneeled while performing at the NFL super bowl halftime show.
The Grammy-winning rapper performed his Oscar-winning song “Lose yourself” at the packed SoFi stadium. Apart from Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50cent, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J Blige were the biggest celebrities who performed at the super bowl halftime show, but Eminem grabbed all the attention after taking a knee at the end of his performance.
The rapper has not responded to why he knelt but as per various reports and experts, Eminem knelt down in order to show solidarity with the NFL player Colin Kaepernick and other athletes. Colin knelt down on 1st September 2016 to protest against police brutality and racial discrimination while the national anthem of the USA was being played and gained nationwide popularity and criticism since then the protest gained more participation and other athletes started doing the same while the US national anthem was being played.
As per the news, Eminem knelt to support Colin Kaepernick and other athletes against racial injustice and police Brutality.
Apart from this, NFL suggested to edit the lyrics of the song who talked about racial discrimination and police brutality. Kendrick Lamar’s song “Alright” which referenced the police brutality – “We hate po-po, wanna kill us dead in the street for sure” was excluded. As per the news from different media, NFL requested Dr. Dre to remove the line “still not loving police” from his all-time famous song “Still Dre featuring Snoop Dogg”.
